Four New Ambassadors

Media Release - 24 June, 2010

The Breast Cancer Research Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of four new ambassadors to its team of individuals dedicated to raising awareness (and funds) for its goal of finding a cure for breast cancer by 2018.

TV3 Sports Presenter Michelle Pickles, Dancing with the Stars personality Nerida Cortese, her husband, actor Shane Cortese, and TV personality Jaquie Brown are the latest well-known Kiwis to show their support of the Trust and its goal. CEO of the Breast Cancer Research Trust, Tony Moffatt, comments, “It is a huge step to welcome not one, but four new ambassadors to the Trust at this time. As our goal gets closer, we are ramping up our fundraising efforts to assist with the critical research needed to find a cure and they will all help our cause.”

Michelle, Nerida, Shane and Jaquie join an incredible group of ambassadors that includes broadcasting personality Carol Hirschfeld, fashion designer Karen Walker and Advertising Creative Director Mikhail Gherman, TV personality Petra Bagust, and maître’d Geeling Ng. Along with the Trust’s Patron, Trelise Cooper, the ambassadors raise the profile of the Trust and encourage donations that enable the Trust to continue its ground-breaking work of finding a cure for breast cancer within the next eight years.

Michelle comments, “I am thrilled to be part of the Trust’s goal of finding a cure for breast cancer by 2018. New Zealand has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the world, but there is ground-breaking research being conducted here in New Zealand and I am thrilled to be able to contribute to that however I can.”

All four new ambassadors are particularly impressed by the Trust’s ambitious and proactive goal, as well as its achievements to date.  “Both Shane and I are passionate about, and excited by, the potential for achievement,” says Nerida. “We are extremely proud to be involved with the amazing work of the Breast Cancer Research Trust.”
