Holiday Parks across New Zealand take the $1000 Challenge.
The Board of the Holiday Accommodation Parks Assn of New Zealand (HAPNZ) has selected the Breast Cancer Research Trust as its charity of choice to help it reach its goal of finding a cure for breast cancer by 2018. Over 300 Holiday Parks nationwide will take up the Breast Cancer Research Trust’s $1,000 Challenge to join the fight to find a cure.
Fergus Brown, CEO of HAPNZ says, “We were particularly impressed with the Trust’s ambitious goal to find a cure by 2018, and the $1000 Challenge is a great way for each Holiday Park to significantly contribute to that goal.”
With each Park aiming to raise at least $1,000, HAPNZ are hoping to reach over $300,000 to assist in the funding of critical research. In 2009 over 6.4 million guest nights were spent in Holiday Parks, and they will invite these guests to join the fight and help meet the target. To support your favourite Holiday Park with Fundraise Online please click here

Holiday Parks of NZ Conference 2010
The announcement at the annual conference in Rotorua at the beginning of June 2010 was attended by our CEO Tony Moffatt and Ambassador Shane Cortese, who set the mood for an auction which raised over $14,000 for the cause.
The top bid was for $6,000 to remove a moustache and this was followed by a $3,200 bid for a trip for two to Australia. The travel prize was donated back by the successful bidder to be given to a worthy person who is battling breast cancer. An additional $2,000 was immediately offered as spending money for the person selected.
Holiday Park $1000 Challenges
Turangi Holiday Park and Martinborough Holiday Park
Jenny Russell, of Turangi Holiday Park, and Lisa Cornelissen, of Martinborough Holiday Park, are going to particular lengths (or shorts, rather) to raise money for the Trust. Both ladies have pledged to shave off all their hair, to be auctioned at the HAPNZ annual conference on July 7th in Wellington.
As both ladies agree, shaving off all your hair is a very hard thing for a woman to do. But as Lisa points out, “At least I will be losing it by choice, and hopefully raising money at the same time.
You can support Jenny and Lisa in their brave goal by donating to the cause at:

Martins Bay Holiday Park
Built themselves a Treasure Chest and filled with it $200 worth of "gold" coins and "expensive" jewellery and then got a whole bunch of keys (100's of them) which they sold for $3. One of the keys unlocked the chest and whoever brought that key won the chest and it's contents. The park also sold the Breast Cancer Research Trust umbrellas and has raised over $1800.
Rakaia Holiday Park
Are making a boob of themselves but for all the right reasons! Arriving at the reception office customers are greeted by a pair of fake breasts sporting a dainty pink bra, along with a couple of slots to donate loose change to a worthy cause. Along with a few raffles, and a mystery auction, they have raised $1091 since they last counted in April, including $360 through people "filling their cups".
The Opunake, Belt Road and Oakura Holiday Parks
Recently participated in the Taranaki Steelformers Around the Mountain Relay, which is 150 km around Mt Taranaki. They raised close to $7,000 between them and had fun while doing it!

Glentanner Park, Aoraki
Staff at Glentanner Park are all working to individually climb the same vertical height as Aoraki Mount Cook. Aoraki Mount Cook stands at 12,316 feet, and the height from Glentanner Park Centre to the 'Shelf' on Glentanner Station is aproximately 1200 feet. So, we are each aiming to do this 10 times by 2011 (that is over 1 climb per week).
Mercury Bay Holiday Park, Whitianga
Are offering $20 for 20 minutes scenic Harley Davidson Tours around Whitianga. ALL donations go to the Trust, with us donating our time, petrol and fabulous Harley motorcycles!

Papamoa Beach Top 10 Holiday Park
Devonshire Tea was the mid-morning snack at the Papamoa Beach Top 10 Holiday Park last Thursday as campers celebrated having the Trelise Cooper Caravan. About 3kg of flour and 500g of butter went into the morning tea from 9.30am - 11.00am. They raised $420 which will be added to the camp's New Year's Eve Pink Party and another $1000 of donations made at the camp office.
